What Do We Do With Our Old Notes?

What do we do with our old notes? I recently opened my old Evernote account and found hundreds of notes in it that I never got around to exporting to my PKMS, and I still have no idea whether they're worth keeping or how relevant they actually are.

It's unfortunate that I never did, because it seems to me that the older a note is, the greater its value, no matter what it's about. It's almost like $1 set aside in the 1950s getting you $1 million in 2026.

The older a note is, the more it's worth: it's a window into where you were that nothing else can reconstruct, and it appreciates precisely because you can't make more of it. So I wouldn't spend a minute deciding what's "worth keeping." Convert everything to a portable format (.md or .txt, plain files on disk) and keep it all somewhere searchable. Sorting first made sense when search was bad; today you can point a basic AI agent at a folder of notes and ask it questions, so the architecture step can wait until a real need shows up. Just placing everything in one folder works really well for the creators of Obsidian, and I don't see why it can't work for the rest of us too.
