The hard part of a big goal is not the roadmap

Our to-do apps usually instruct us on tactics. They tell us what tasks are on our to-do list and help us navigate the day-to-day. We haven't seen many examples of an app that takes a big life goal as its input, then breaks it down and guides you along the path to achieving it.

One idea could be an app that gamifies the whole experience, introducing milestones and breaking them down into quests with RPG mechanics.

This idea reminds me of a prompting technique called 'skill path selector', which was popular for a moment in the early era of ChatGPT 'prompt engineering' (which, in AI years, was about last summer). It usually went something like this.

I'd like to learn [skill/subject]. Can you help me out? Assume the role of an expert tutor and break it down for me in simple steps, starting from the basics and gradually getting into more advanced stuff. Share any helpful tips, resources, or exercises that could make it easier for me to learn. If there are any tools or books you recommend, let me know too...
  • Looking at this again, deciding how to achieve something is the easier part. The hardest part is understanding what your goal is, why it is your goal, and what you're prepared to give up to achieve it.
  • Once the goal is clear in your mind, figuring out the details becomes much easier.
  • On the other hand, if something else dictates the milestones, they risk becoming a bit alienating over time. Then life gets in the way, and you eventually give them up.

My question is, have you seen any examples of such apps, and what happens if users start skipping quests in week 3?

Indexed and yours,
Zhenia
